About this project

Date in the diary

April 2009 - September 2009

The Deal

A short fillm produced by 10 adults with learning disabilities from New Prospects and Real Life Options.

How it worked

Over a period of 6 weeks, we facilitated the filmmaking project with the group. The participants of the group came from a supported living environment to produce an informative film about the difficult transition into supported living. The group were involved at every stage of development from production to acting.

Did it end up on the Cutting Room Floor?

The film premiered in September 2009 with great success!

Why was it great?

We now hope to extend the project an ongoing film club, helping people with learning disabilities produce films which inform the community of issues important to the groups such as healthy living and independent travel.

Say What?

Working on the film helped me to gain confidence and work with new friends. I think the film will help people with a learning disability to go into supported living and see how it can help them.
