Filming Progress

I've just had an extremely hectic few weeks, so thought I would give you an update on recent developments...

Firstly I was invited to pitch at Sheffield Doc Fest, to the Wellcome Trust. I was one of five pitches selected to go up infront of a live audience and panel to compete for 2 awards of £10,000 development money. Sadly, on this occasion we weren't successful, but it was a fantastic experience to be there, and be competing against filmmakers with a lot more experience that me! Hopefully it will put me in good stead for the next time I pitch in such scary circumstances...

I then had a week with the Producer's Training Initiative down in London, which is ran by Ipso Facto Films. I was trained in budgeting and scheduling for feature films as well as marketing and distribution.

On my return to Newcastle I headed straight out to film with Michael, and had a really successful days' shoot at his home and with him as he gave a speech on Human Rights at a Learning Disabled parliament meeting. Terri was very open about her history with Michael throughout her interview, and my narrative around Michael's battle with the education system is really taking shape. My next days' filming will be at Michael's Annual Review in December and hopefully that will go just as well.

My final piece of news is that Engage Media have just won a grant from Mediabox to run a print and film project called 'Campaign Me' alongside young people with disabilities from PCF. The project will see them run for 'Youth Prime Minister' electing a leader and then making a film about how their world would look if their candidate ran the country!

I shall keep you all updated on filming for Capture and any other exciting Engage Media progress, including Mediabox which starts this week. Fingers crossed for Stingers now.
